My son's DNA test said that he is 40% German. That's when I realized he had so many German characteristics like his love of potatoes and meat. I decided to try cooking authentic German cuisine, so I went to Alpine Village, a German village with deli in Torrance.

The deli is always so popular that even on weekdays there can be a long line. German hams, salami, sausages and cheeses are so delicious and definitely worth the wait.

You must try the Egg bread. It is so sweet and buttery!

I also purchased German and Polish pickles, Italian pasta, sardines and anchovy paste.

German charcuterie for two is served! From the left is Head cheese, smoked mozzarella, Bierwurst, and pickles.

I also made a spicy honey mustard sauce. This is a must try!

<Ingredients for 2 servings>
2 tbsp Polish Stone-ground mustard
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp Japanese mayonaise
1 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp Japanese Karashi/mustard (very spicy)

As soon as I put the bread in the oven my house smelled like a German Festival!
